Five Petal Fabric Tutorial!

Good Friday morning everyone.  Guiseppa here to share with you an easy way to make cute flowers out of fabric.  I love adding fabric to my projects, especially my scrapbooking projects.  I decided to make these flowers so that I have them on hand to use whenever I want.

So, here's how!

You will need:
Fabric
Buttons
Needle
Thread
Scissors

First off you will want to cut out 5 3x3 inch squares of fabric.  Now, as the pictures shows...I cut out 6.  Originally I was going to make it a 6 petal flower, but decided I would prefer to make it a 5 petal flower.  You can however, make it as little or large as you like by adding or decreasing the squares.  You can also cut the size down on the squares...go to a 2 1/2 inch square or 2 inch square.  Whatever you would like.

Next you will want to fold your squares in half, making them look like a triangle.  Then press them with your iron.

Then you will need to stitch the open sides up using a loose gathering stitch.

It will end up looking like this.  Make sure you gather it up to look like a petal.

Next, add another petal right on using the same gathering stitch and gather it.  It should look like this.

You will do this with all five petals until it looks like this.  Make sure you stitch the two ends together.

Sew on a button for the center of the flower.

If you get crazy like me....you will have a bunch of them cause they are so darn cute!

A while back, I made this layout using Samantha Walker's fabric and paper.  These are the same flowers I just showed you how to make, except they are a 6 petal flower.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and find it useful when you are wanting that extra special touch to your crafting project.  I made these flowers using Samantha's Saddle Up Collection from Riley Blake Designs.
Thanks for stopping by today!
