Spotlighted on Samantha Walker's Blog!

I am so happy that I joined Samantha Walker's team.  It has been about a year and a half since I joined the team.  I have enjoyed every minute of it.  I have been able to broaden my crafty horizons thanks to Samantha...and fabric has been one of those things that I have become more familiar with.  So today, I want to share with you some headbands I made using Samantha's new fabric line from Riley Blake Designs...Saddle Up.

What is so fun about these headbands is that they are reversible!

I have to admit...I am still learning a lot about sewing and I do require a pattern to create my sewing projects, but maybe one day I will be drawing up my own patterns.  I got this pattern from a cute girl named Jessica over at Happy Together...so go check her out!

So, since this is a spotlight post...here is a little more about me!

1. What is your favorite Technique?
Anyone who knows me, knows I have a love for foam adhesive.  I love to create dimension on my layouts.

2. Where did you learn to design?
So, like a lot of crafty ladies in the industry...I didn't go to school to learn any of the crafting and designing I do, I simply developed a love for the craft of scrapbooking, sewing and crafting.  I just dove in with both feet and over the years became better and better at what I do.

3. What influences your design choices?
I am a trend watcher.  I love to see what is new in color and design, not only in the crafting world but all around me.  I get inspiration from clothing, magazines, ads on the TV, and the internet.  I am also inspired by the outdoors.  I love nature on my projects.

4. Who are your artsy inspirations?
I have so many, but I do love Jaime Warren, Leslie Ashe and Susan Weinroth...just to name a few.

5. What do you enjoy doing besides crafting?
I love being outdoors.  You can often find my family and I camping, hiking, fishing, bike riding and four wheeling.  If you can't find me in my scrapbooking room, there is a chance I am doing something outdoors.

Here are a few more interesting tidbits about me!

My name is from a Danish grandmother but is originally Italian.  My Grandmother's Father was a painter and once painted an Italian lady by the name of Guiseppa.  We think he might have had a crush on her because he named all of his children with the middle name of Guiseppa...including the boys!

A few years ago I decided I wanted to be more healthy and set out to loose weight.  I was successful and lost 65 pounds.  I have managed to maintain my new weight for almost three years now.

I am a carrier of a rare genetic disease called SCIDS, or otherwise known as "The Bubble Boy Disease".  The disease is recessive in me, but can be passed to my children.  I didn't know I was a carrier until I had my third child.  He was a dominate carrier of the gene and passed away when he was three.

Ok...I am a little obsessive compulsive, but I would like to think that everybody has a little bit of that in them.  I find myself rotating underwear, dish towels and things that are commonly used a lot just so they all get even ear. Weird, I know, but I think there are probably worse things to be obsessive about.

Simply Summerific with Simple Stories!

Good Monday morning all!  Guiseppa here and I am so excited to share with you today...an altered project!  Yep...I know I said I am pretty much a layout and card girl, but this Summer Fresh Collection has me wanting to create some fun summery projects.

So, I had this watering can in my closet...collecting dust.  I kept because I knew I would want to use it for something...someday.  Well, that someday has arrived and finally I am going to put it to good use!

Watering can1

Watering can2

I made this fun pinwheels and glued a kabob stick to the back of them.  The water can has foam in the bottom of it, so it was so easy to stick the pinwheels right in.

Watering can3

I also made this little penndant banner and attached it using baker's twine, to all the pinwheels just for an added touch.  Finally, I added some sun flowers, greenery  and white paper filler to fill the watering can.

Watering can4

I love how this project just rings SUMMER!  I can use this as a center piece for a BBQ, picnic or just as home decor.  Have you tried making a fun summer project with Summer Fresh...if you haven't, it is the perfect colletion just for that!  Make sure you check out the Simple Stories Blog for all kind of inspiring project for the summer and so much more!  Thanks for stopping by an have Summerific Summer!

it, I think it is a family thing cause we all do it.  Anyway...I want to do something different with my journaling, so I decided to break it up.  I cut out these labels and tags from the Splendor Collection and placed them throughout the layout.

Earth Friendly Friday with Authentique!

Hey all...it's Earth Friendly Friday over at the Authentique Blog and I created this fun project to share with all you Authentique fans!  As I was trying to decide what I wanted to create for Earth Friendly Friday, I did what any other smart girl would do and went to Pinterest for a little inspiration.  I saw this cute little bird diorama.  This project was made using a Mason Jar.  Perfect...I reuse my Mason Jars over and over again.  This project was inspired by houseofhumble.com, so go over and see her cute bird diorama!  Sorry about the the glare.  I tried forever to try to get the best picture possible.

I found these cute little birds at Michaels, which matched perfectly with the new Lively Collection.  So, I searched my yard for the perfect branch.  Perfect...another Earth friendly material found in my own backyard!  It took awhile to get it cut just right to fit tight in the jar, but look how cut it sits!

I also made this fun banner using some of the patterned papers from the Lively Collection and the Details stickers and strung it on either side of the branch and tied it.  Supa cute huh?

For the finishing touches, I added some moss grass to the bottom.  I also decorated the top of the jar.  I covered the ring with patterned paper, added some ribbon and baker's twine, tied it off with a cute bow and added a sticker tag from the Details stickers.

For the very top off the jar, I covered the lid with more patterned paper, added another Detail sticker and some rope twine around the ring.

This was so fun and it amazes me how much things we can find around our house to reuse and make into fabulous projects.  This is going on my shelf in my scrapbooking room...well, as soon as the shelf is finished.  That's another project in itself.   Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!

Imaginisce Tool Extravaganza!

Hey all...I am up on the Imaginisce Blog today sharing my projects using the I-Magicut Ribbon Cutter, but you can also see them right here.  All month long the design team has been sharing projects using Imaginisce Tools.  So, make sure you head over to the Blog to see what the design team has been up to!

First off, I created this layout using the I-Magicut Ribbon Cutter.  Let me tell you...I love the I-Magicut!  I am so happy that I can create projects with ribbon and no longer worry about them fraying.  I created this layout using a lot of ribbon...thanks to May Arts!  I have been wanting to create a layout like this for awhile.  I simply used the
I-Magicut to cut the ribbon, adhered it to my layout and tied bows throughout the layout.  It was so easy and the cute little girl in my layout...she is one of my neighbor's twins that I am so lucky to get to watch.  Isn't she cute?

Authentique June Color Challenge!

I love the fact that Authentique's paper is such high quality and the colors and patterns they come in are stunning!  So, today I want to share another layout I did using the Fresh Collection.  The colors scheme of these papers is gorgeous!  Here is a look at the color scheme.

        Photobucket

I really wanted to highlight the Calm Ocean, Persimmon colors and use the Driftwood as a background and neutral color.  This helped helped the colors on the layout to pop.

So...here's a look at what I did.  I am not quite finished with my album.  I still have another section to add.
I love the fact that the outside of this album in a chipboard craft color.  So easy to decorate it the way you want.

Our Summer

The thick chipboard dividers are fabulous for each new section of your album.

I love the different sized page protectors.  It makes it so easy to insert different sized pictures as well as use all of the different sized flash cards and journaling cards.

The album pages are so cute and sometimes all you need to do is add a picture or you can embellish it more.  I added a Memorabilia Pocket to the middle one and added some pictures inside of it.

Here are a few more ideas!

With this one I used the large 6x8 Memorabilia Pocket to hide some journaling and titled Journaling Card.
